Welcome to the forum. I got my first corvette in June (a 1994). You will find this forum to be a great source of information and the only quick advice I would offer right from the start is to be careful cleaning your engine compartment. The optispark distributor located on the front of the engine (right behind the water pump) does not like large doses of water being dumped on it.

I found that out the hard way after having my car for just a few days. Fortunately, it was really ready for a new opti anyway and the “thorough washing” that I did pushed it over the edge. Totally fried it. Replacing it was actually a blessing in disguise because it probably would have left me stranded somewhere in another month or two based on how massively rusty it was on the inside. Anyway, enjoy your vette and the forum.

Good ol' eBay routinely has listings for the roof tool and jack components. Search for “C4 Corvette” and you will find hundreds of items. Add the word “jack” or “roof” and it will pare it down to more applicable items in regard to your current needs.

As for the optispark, my guess is that yours has already been replaced at some point. 90K would be a very long life for an opti as most that I have heard about give up the ghost around 60K or earlier. I was told that the 71K I had on mine was pretty rare.

Common symptoms of a failing opti can range from hard starting to cutting out (especially at higher RPMs) to backfiring and general poor engine performance. If your engine is running well right now, just don't flush the engine compartment with water like I did ...

Have you looked on the floor under the driver's seat for the jack and you can get the top roof at your local auto parts store ( a splined set and ratchet wrench is all thats needed).
you made a great choice in the 95 Vette.

Consider buying the factory service manual.

In almost every section, there will be a description of the system and various components. If you want to get a good understanding of how your car works, this book is pretty much the baseline.

I'd sell my refrigerator before selling my Factory Service Manual (FSM).

Enjoy your car.

Welcome to the family! I think you'll be pleased with your choice of car ('95-'96 have the improved opti and other refinements). Long live the C4!

Sell it and buy a Mustang!

Seriously though, the jack for my '89 is on top of the spare tire under the car. The lug wrench is behind the driver's seat. Not sure if it's the same on a '95.

Enjoy your new ride.

Jack is in the storage compartment behind the pass seat and the handle is stored behind the driver's seat (slide the seat forward and you should see it). ebay or vette2vette.com are good sources for used parts.
