i am ready to replace my brake pads as the car just doesent stop well at anything other than normal driving.pads were on the car when i bought it.what do you guys recommend for a street car that does see occaisonal dragstrip use?i have been thinking about:
1.hawk hps ceramic
2.performance friction carbon metallic
3.you tell me
the car already has new stainless lines and i have a bias spring i may install as well.squeal free and good stopping power without prematurely eating rotors is the goal.
Hawk has a good ceramic pad as does Raybestos and AC Delco These types of pads work fine for the street and usually show little if any dust in normal street driving.
Hawk HPS pads or the PFC pads are a great semi-metallic pad that will work for spirited street driving, autocross and for the novice track day driver. There is some dusting if you use these pads hard and at this level, a change to a good DOT4 fluid would be recommended for help against boiling a DOT3 fluid.
Other good semi-metallic pads are the Raybestos BruteStop or the AC Delco DuraStop, NAPA semi-metallic pads are the same as the Raybestos pad (made by Raybestos for NAPA).
I just installed PF carbon metallic pads at all four corners of my LT4 a couple months ago. I'm happy enough with em, but honestly I'd go with rocco16's advice above.
