well, I can do whatever to help you guys getting the bumper, but I am wondering how exactly are we going to do this.

When I called BSM, they said they prefer bank transfer for the payment, but even if we order them, do we want all of them together at one place or we should ask them to ship them individually?
if we do so, we wouldn't save money for shipping but I can call them and ask for discount for the bumper itself.

any ideas or thoghts?
Well it sounds to me like we should have them all shipped to one place and then let that person ship them out - I suspect they will give us a better discount that way and I think we would be safer and there would be much less shipping confusion if they ALL went to the same place here in the US FIRST. Once they get here we can then pay that person shipping costs plus maybe a "slight" charge for their time and trouble.

I've got plenty of space in my garage here in KY so I don't mind doing it at all BUT I suspect we would be better off if someone in California receives them since they are coming from Japan.

Anyways, I think they said FRP(Fiber Reinforced Plastic), which I guess is same thing as fiberglass? I'll call them again and make sure what it's made out of.
From Wikipedia, sounds like it is basically fiberglass:

A fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP) (also Fibre-reinforced polymer) is a composite material comprising a polymer matrix reinforced with fibres. The fibers are usually fiberglass, carbon, or aramid, while the polymer is usually an epoxy, vinylester or polyester thermosetting plastic. FRPs are commonly used in the aerospace, automotive, marine, and construction industries.

I think that is a good idea but I don't think BSM will send bumpers until they receive the payment. So if we do that, someone will have to purchase bunch of bumpers first and wait for people to pay...

also the import duties...do you guys know if one state will charge less duties than the other?

Yeah I think easiest thing to do would be to have everyone send their $ to the same person, with a specific deadline for receiving those funds, once that date arrives, the order is placed. But whoever does it we may need to just have a little verification that they are legit, so they don't take off with 30K of bodykit money.

Maybe even have a quick little conference call just to get everyone on same page once we have this all lined up?

That's always your option but the group buy is not just for the bumper I don't think, just anything from the kit you want.

The more folks we have, regardless of what they are buying, the better for all of us.

Default some updates

Hi guys, some updates...

They told me they are willing to give a little bit of discounts if you are gonna group buy (didn't discuss the detail like how much, but yea, they are willing to )

Also, they said they do not have those kits in stock right now, so it would take them approx 4 weeks after taking order from you.
(the kit is basically order-made)
Also non-refundable payment is required in order to produce the kit.

They have mentioned that if you're going to group buy, they would have to use container instead of wooden box. So the person whoever is going to be storing the kit will have to receive the container I guess??? RUKWKR's idea of paying "slight" charge is good idea because whoever end up doing this will be doing a huge favor for the club members.

why? Xmas is good time

anyways, I think we should get this organized and figure out how we are going to do it...I mean, we don't even know exact number of how many people are interested. when is this going to happen, who will be receiving at where, etc...

So you are saying 1 single container that would hold everything???????? Sorry just a little confused.

I'm sure we'll need to get a firm price before most guys will commit. I think from reading this post from start to finish you can get a rough idea of how many are in?

oh no I'm not saying 1 single container would hold everything, but when they asked me how many we're ordering, I said "we're not sure yet, could be up to 20-ish"

yeah I think we should get a firm price first...I can ask them and see what exact amount of discount they are willing to offer.

I am completely into the idea but I'm thinking we might have more takers after the holidays because I for one want this front end very very badly but I only have about 500 to spend right now but in almost 2 months I would have 3 times that. The writers strike is kicking my butt I haven't worked for weeks

Yah good idea, maybe set a tentative date for something like April after everyone has got their tax returns back?

yea April seems good idea so that people have enough time to prepare the money.

but I am concerned about the import duties tho, the total price will really depend on the import duties.

I'll ask them and see what happens for the kit price and shipping, but dunno about the import duties.

hmmm ok they can't tell me the price because they don't know where we want to send it first.

I guess we need to figure out who will be receiving those kits?
We need someone who is reliable and dependable to do this...

Hi Timpo, I have one suggestion. Before we have 20 or 30 guys buy these all at once it would be nice if one person could verify fit/finish/quality/etc. - then take lots of pics once received and post here to the forum. It seems the front bumper would perhaps be the best "test" case since it seems that is what most people want. If the quality of the front bumper is good, it fits well, etc. then I think it is reasonably safe to assume the rest of the kit has good quality.

Since this is my idea I suppose I can offer myself up as the sacrificial lamb.

If you guys think this makes sense, then Timpo I can call you and we can work out the details. Since April is several months away this would give me time to receive the kit, take the pics, and post here to the forum.

Let me know what you guys think.

If someone else wants to do it that is fine by me of course, but I think that whoever does it should perhaps get a very small fee from each person who participates in the group buy so their price is somewhat close to the group buy price - this is of course assuming the group buy price is considerably lower than an individual price. I am also assuming that if we just buy one initially, for verification purposes, that they will make that individual pay full price.

- EDIT - one more thing, could you get them to send us some hi-res pics of a front bumper just sitting on the ground, from various angles, etc.? After studying the car that's for sale with the BSM bodykit it seems there are a few things that aren't quite symmetric about it, but I'm hoping that is just because it's cracked up or maybe just camera angle or something.
