- EDIT - one more thing, could you get them to send us some hi-res pics of a front bumper just sitting on the ground, from various angles, etc.? After studying the car that's for sale with the BSM bodykit it seems there are a few things that aren't quite symmetric about it, but I'm hoping that is just because it's cracked up or maybe just camera angle or something.
I agree. If you look at the photos the silver and black cars have the same bumper but the red one sitting on somebody's yard has clearly different version of the same bumper (all 3 are late C4's). IMO the ones in black and silver look great but the red one has some weird lines and shapes that make it look unattractive. Hope that the one on the silver and black cars is the current version and the weird lines are fixed. Its hard to tell as the actual shape is hard to figure out from those colors.
yeah, but ToniH said "all 3 are late C4's" so I guess he wasn't talking about this one?
Correct, the black, the silver and the red one standing in someones yard are all late C4's and I personally could not care less about the early one. And it would be totally pointless in comparing the late with the early as they clearly are different and not compatible. But there is 2 different front bumpers in this thread ON LATE cars. One is IMO ugly and other possibly great but more photos needed to verify that the problem area on the ugly one is/is not fixed on present bumpers. That is what I am talking of.
Also note that the license plate recess is present in both black and silver but not on the red one. And the spoiler side skirt on the silver one is a bit different than on the red one. More refined line.

Hi Timpo, I have one suggestion. Before we have 20 or 30 guys buy these all at once it would be nice if one person could verify fit/finish/quality/etc. - then take lots of pics once received and post here to the forum. It seems the front bumper would perhaps be the best "test" case since it seems that is what most people want. If the quality of the front bumper is good, it fits well, etc. then I think it is reasonably safe to assume the rest of the kit has good quality.
Since this is my idea I suppose I can offer myself up as the sacrificial lamb.
If you guys think this makes sense, then Timpo I can call you and we can work out the details. Since April is several months away this would give me time to receive the kit, take the pics, and post here to the forum.
Let me know what you guys think.
If someone else wants to do it that is fine by me of course, but I think that whoever does it should perhaps get a very small fee from each person who participates in the group buy so their price is somewhat close to the group buy price - this is of course assuming the group buy price is considerably lower than an individual price. I am also assuming that if we just buy one initially, for verification purposes, that they will make that individual pay full price.

sure, if you want to do that, I can help you.
also if you purchase one by yourself, you won't get a group buy discount or save money for shipping. Just wanted to make sure if that would be ok for you.

for my contact info, I'll send you a pm.
Well I would PREFER to be a part of the group buy but I think it would go a long way if one person tried it first, so I was volunteering to be the guinea pig.
And I'm with you guys, the black and silver cars are what I like - I don't like the "point" on the red car under the guys carport thingy. If they'll get me us some high quality detailed pics of a late model C4 bumper, like the silver one, I'll jump!
Also if you look at the link the BSM-kitted car on the 1st page the side profile doesn't appear to have the "point" like the carport car AND it doesn't have the license plate recess.

ok well I'll try to get a hold of some pics and see what happens
what I am guessing about that red C4 is, I think the owner didn't like the spot to put the license plate on, so he smooth it out or molded or made some modifications.
More likely scenario is that the bumper design has evolved over time and we are looking at different versions from different production runs. That is why its important to make sure what is the current shape they are making. It is not out of question that they might even use many molds at the same time and not all are the same.
The side skirt of the front spoiler also has more curved shape on the silver car than on the red car - or that is how it seems from these photos (note: i am not talking about the side skirts but only the front bumper and its side skirts).
I'm concerned that they don't even have ONE in stock however. It also seems that if they have a potential order of 20 bumpers minimum that they would MAKE one for us.
So their sales/business acumen is a little suspect right now to me.
But their statement about fitment is correct if you ask me. That's why everything on the front end is so adjustable - even the Corvette factory had problems getting every single car to look the same. All of our cars have different door gaps, hood gaps, bumper gaps, etc. - you'll never see 2 that are 100% identical in that regard.
Timpo,
Thanks for doing the work. Here is another idea (probably a stretch)....Do you think they would be interested in "selling" a mold for the kit to somebody like Toledo Pro or another body company stateside?? Maybe we can bring the two companies together. They can both make some money and we can save some.
