I did a compression test a few days back, pulled the coil wire, unplugged the injectors, and pulled the plugs. While testing the drivers side I hear the coil clicking and then unplug the harness that goes into the coil to stop any signal from getting to the coil. Compression is good, but now the engine will not start. Seems to be a no spark condition. Did i fry something?
To avoid spark generation it's better to pull a fuse of the primary to the coil. When a coil discharges into an infinite resistance the voltage can realy climb; could cause internal breakdown.
Thanks for the input. I'll test the coil today. The Dumb thing is, I had three service manuals with me when I did this and didn't check first on how to disable the coil.
Thanks again,

P.S.love those 35th Anniversary cars. Had one back in 88, wish I still did. when I see her driving down the road it still hurts!
You may have fried the electronic module that fires the coil also. The coil and the module are supposed to be able to take this kind of abuse but they fail some times.
Be sure your temp sensor on the waterpump and all the other connectors you removed are back on properly. Check for bent pins on the connection points.
Re: "No start" after compression test (AquaMetallic94LT1)
Todays project was to get it started. The coil and ign. module were replaced last week and the momma still wouldn't start. I scaned it and got the death code. Low resolution circuit failure. After going thru the GM manual on diagnosis It looked like I had killed the opti. I was too lazy to get into it so I let it sit for a week. So, today, before I pull the water pump and stuff to swap out the opti I thought I would try to start it. It starts! I cleared the code with my auto tap, and shes runnin fine. So what was that all about? Gremlins? I dunno.... But I know it had to be something.
