Being the owner of a 1995 Base Corvette with the LT1 engine for all of two months, I'm ignorant of a lot of things.
I have a message that flashes next to my speedometer - it flashes "SYS".
Judging by the conversations I've seen by lurking, I assume that it means I triggered a code. Okay, I bought an AUTO X-RAY EZ Read 2000 scanner. It came with 4 connectors but the owners manual states that some 1994-1995 GM and Fords have an OBD II interface but use OBD I protocols. How would I know if it uses the OBD I protocols?
So no flaming please - I have used the search feature and haven't found the info that I need. Just where is the connector located for me to hook up my Scanner?
Also, while I was installing a new sound system I saw a large connector hooked to a long cable in the compartment behind the drivers seat. Just what is this connector?
I've tucked the Vette in the garage for the winter so I can take my time in reading the codes and repairing the problems.
Thanks for any information/advice that others can share with me.
Okay, thanks for that info, but I need to know something even more basic (I wasn't kidding about being ignorant about this stuff) - where is the connector to plug my code scanner into?
The compartment behind the drivers seat houses the ASR/ABS unit. The compartment behind the passenger seat houses the radio receiver, if you have the Bose system.
Another thing I found was a long thin cable that comes from one of the rear compartments, goes by the console on the passenger side. The cable terminates with a head that has two telephone-type connectors. I don't see anything in my Haynes book about this cable.

I've read about that extra connection by the console in the owners manual. it is for a phone hook up for a cell phone or something like that, its an accessory plug.

There were no RJ11 connectors in your car when it left the factory.
If you want to understand the car you need a real service manual not a Haynes.

I did a quick search for threads in this section with "1995" in the title, and found several threads that would answer most of your OBD-related questions. Other relevant search terms would be "OBD2" "OBDII" "OBD1" "OBDI" and "ALDL"
