Default Lowering Bolts?

I have heard that you can buy "lowering bolts" to lower your c4. I have an '86 with 17" z06 rims, so I would like to lower the car about an inch. What would be the most cost effective way of accomplishing this without "too much work"?

Another question... Using the tire size calculator, the wheels I have now (size slips my mind) were supposed to be the exact same size as the stock 16's, but my car sits a little higher with the new wheels... what gives?

If you JUST put the wheels on, after jacking a car up the springs may take a day or so to settle down to the normal ride height.

To calculate tire diameter (eg: 255/50/R16)

255 x 50 / 1270 + 16

=26.0 inches.

And yes, the overall diameter is normally dead nuts accurate even between brands of the same size. This is because they don't want to compromise speedo accuracy.

It is called "plus sizing". As a rule, to go up 1 wheel diameter size, (16" to 17") you also go up one in the aspect ratio (/50 to /40). You can figure the diameter, like it looks as though CenterCoaster has, or you can look it up on one of the tire dealers web sites (Tire Rack?). Since you don't know the tire sizes involved, here, it is impossible to comment on the specifics.

Also, tire sizing is an inexact approximation. The actual dimensions can vary from one manufacturer to another. They can even vary from tire to tire with a given manufacturer.

RACE ON!!!

True with respect to actual width, but not true for diameter.

In my experience the diameters are very very close to what the equation above gives you. They also publish revolutions per mile, an easy way to compare sizes on tire rack. I assume that info is straight from the manufacturer.

So do I need both of the parts from MAM, or just the bottom one for an '86?

I would go with the midamerica kit,i will buy it soon
and about the angles...yes,its funny how a vette or a person angles on a picture can change the whole appareance
the right angles are hard to recognize, but with a good taste everything its possible,so dont forget about the 2% rack angle !
front always has to be lower (nice way to stay on topic lol! )
