I'm officially done with my Holley AFPR today. Blew my second diaphgragm in a month today. Anyone have any recommendations on an AFPR for an 85? Preferably one that isn't as high maintenance as this one has been.
I had the Aeromotive and had no problems just dont know if they make it for the TPI cars. Personaly I removed it and just retuned the car with the stock regulator. In all reality I see no need for this product other then a bandaid for a good tune
I tried one from mid-America. The vacuum port fitting on it was very delicate and broke right away. That was a few years ago, not sure if they have improved the design or not.
The Holley was suggested when I was shopping around for one. It's been on for over a year now since I installed and without problems. From what I have read on this forum, most members have had trouble with other aftermarket AFPR's and the Holley was probably the best hands down.
It does immediately bleed off fuel pressure after shutting car off - but I talked to Aeromotive about it and they said it was normal. Only downside to it is a very, very slight delay sometimes when cranking til' the fuel gets there.
For the most part they have no real advatage, I mostly did the Aeromotive because it looks so

Sorry, little pissed today if you couldn't tell.
I have a Holley on mine and it has worked well for years. When I got it I inspected the part as I always do since it's so common for a part to need finishing work.
And it did, there was a ridge of metal in the bore of the regulator. Maybe that is your only problem. Look the unit over and clean it up. I removed the vacuum fitting and cleaned that up to, plus resealed it better.
Thanks guys, I have a new one on the way. Appreciate your input. I posted out of frustration. Sucks when you're about to take your car in, JUST fresh off a brand new rebuild, to get the emissions sticker only to have the low idle so bad that it feels like it's going to die. Sucks when I pulled the vacuum line off the AFPR to see fuel pouring out. Just really frustrating to have it parked again.
Anyways, you guys pull through like always and I appreciate it.
