Have any of you guys tried the X-Ram crossfire intake systems on your vettes?
I would like to know what you guys think of this and if it really makes a good difference.
Thanks
You'll get a few differnent opinions. I have it and like it. Most popular choice for CFI users is to port the orginal intake. X-ram is used more with a 383. You'll lose a bit on the low end with stock motor. At the time for me I went with the X-ram and glad I did. Whether you port or go with the X-ram I would recommend using 1:6 rr's as well.
I have no personal experience, but from all reports, the X-Ram doesn't measure up to my home ported stock manifold on my otherwise all stock engine. The air/fuel mixture enters the plenum at the sides of the engine. Then it has to flow to the center of the engine and through the 4 barrel carb pad and then back out to the sides of the engine, again, to the intake valves. That seems like at least one U turn too many for the air/fuel mixture to have to negotiate. To me, admittedly, with no personal experience, that seems like too much monkey motion.
