Looked at 96 Lt4 the other day, liked the car but it had a problem. 2ND gear
would grind unless you shift at low RPM. I have been told that trans
is impossible to get parts for and new one is 5,000. Anyone know if thats
true, or of anyone specializing in the ZF 6-sp repair.......Thanks :confused:

I will be pulling the ZF out of my Z28 in about a month. I am asking $2500 for it. It is perfect and if anyone wants to testdrive the car to test the transmission, feel free.

Matt, the ZF that you are pulling from your Z28 - what year Corvette was it in before you installed it in your Z28? No ZF trans were ever factory installed in Z28's, ZF's were strictly Corvette in OEM GM applications.

The rumor you heard about no parts available and $5K rebuilds is wrong. ZF corporation has been advertizing sale of parts thru Standard Gear in Corvette Fever Magazine for a year. ALL parts are available, although few shops have the expertise to tackle one.

Not only was the ZF never offered in a 3rd gen Z28, 6-speeds were never offered in 3rd gen Z28s. However, the 26 91-92 Firebird Firehawks had ZF6s in them.

The ZF I am selling is out of a '95-'96 as it has no reverse lockout ring on the shifter. My car (Z28) originally had a 700R4 in it. After destroying three of them, I decided to go to the ZF6. I did the swap myself. :chevy
