Does anyone know if the rear window grid gets warm enough to feel ? The test from the FSM shows its OK. I don't have any visible broken grid lines. The connections on the struts are fairly tight. But one wire that is soldered to the window grid is kinda loose, has a few wires that broke free but is still connected. My windows get hot to the touch, but not the window grid. Any thoughts ?
I've never really paid much attention to how hot the glass got.
Remember though, the mirrors are a lot smaller surface area than the rear hatch. I really doubt the rear glass is ever going to get "warm" enough for you to actually feel it.
It only has to get warm enough to melt ice (32 degrees F.). And even then, it's not like it melts it instantly. It will take awhile.
Since it doesn't get cold that much down here, I only turn it on during damp foggy conditions if the car has set out overnight. I used to see the grid clearing the fog, but I guess it needs to be colder.
the easiest way to tell if all the lines are working is to spray a very light mist of water on the glass. You want the drops of water tiny enough that they don't blob together and drip down. If you have a line out they sell repair paint.
