Default '86 Clutch master Cyl

About 3 months ago I decided to bite off a bit more than I could chew and decided to race a new Dodge Viper. While I was busy getting my doors blown off by the Pam Anderson look alike behind the wheel of the Viper, my clutch MC went south for the winter. I looked around at the local parts stores and found prices on a new one ranging from $35.00 to $150.00. Being the father of 4 teenage daughters and on a budget, I decided to buy the $35.00 Checker Auto Parts one. Well this morning after a normal night of bar hopping and ABSOLUTLELY NO issues AT ALL with the clutch, I woke up to no pressure on my clutch pedal. I popped the hood and sure enough, dark grey fluid in the resivoir!!!! What could cause this unit to fail so quickly?? Was it just me being cheap? Is there really a difference between a $35.00 MC and a $150.00 MC? I'll be replacing it within the next few days and would really love to know why I go through Clutch MCs so quickly!!! Help!!

What kind of fluid did you use? Cheap brake fluid, or correct GM fluid. Here's why I ask: in 4/05 I replaced my slave/hose/mc. In 11/06, w/ about 6K on the clock, the slave and MC when bad again. The slave had the bad seal deal, but the MC was just as bad, no idea why. Thats when i read ZF docs web site, so I used the GM fluid, no problems since.
Look at it this way, it is cheap insurance.
