GM does not sell new auto transmissions. They only have remanufactured. Even if a trans fails under warrantee, it will receive a remanufactured unit.

GM has a good warranty, but it is still stock. There are a "few" people that can build this unit to take some HP and be very reliable. If you are interested in building it yourself, there is plenty of information, rebuild books, DVD, etc. There are a couple of people who carry the right parts.

Default 94 transmission

My vote would be to rebuild. You'll maintain original transmission case which could help retain value in say 30 years. I had mine rebuilt 20,000 miles ago still better than new. The guy builds drag racing tranny's he firmed my shift points so it hits quick and hard, I love it. Search around in your area I'll bet you can find someone like him.
