Anyone ever put an 84 compressor on a newer car? They cost about 1/2 the one for my 87 does. The only difference I can see is a smaller drive pulley. Not a problem to me. Guess I am a cheap SOB too.

Yea, I can get one listed for an 84 for $90. I expect to be jobless soon so I need to conserve $$. I know I will need a different belt but, I have underdrive pulleys so stock will not fit anyway.
Put up a wanted to buy in the parts for sale section. I'm sure within a few days you will find a few good used ones cheap. I'm a cheap SOB as well, nice to meet you!!
I am sort of shy about a used one. It would be 20 years old and I have one of those. Its a little noisey now. I would like to replace it before it pukes.
Many compressors are stock. Typically, the only differences are the brackets and pulley's. I would suggest getting a new (rebuilt) compressor. You should also get a new drier as well.
