Here is the one I designed and made. Korvette4U sells a version of it, but current price is unknown (and rumored to be high). I am debating on making/selling it myself (and selling it cheaper). Other option is I can send cad files to anyone interested in making it themselves, but the cad files are in CadKey, which is no longer in business. This version does require a shorter belt, due to my design goal of keeping the alternator in the stock position (to maintain proper support with the stock rear tube bracket), but lowering the pulley position to keep the bracket(s) that support the new idler pulley as stiff as possible.
Your right, I think I better powder coat the insides of the cross flags, yellow. Thanks for pointing that out
You were already thinking about this, weren't you?
Plasticman, yours looks great too.
I'm also in the process of making a bunch of changes to my engine and I'm having the air pump delete debate with myself.
Considering I just accidentally broke all the air tubes off my passenger side header, the air pump delete side is winning the debate.
I made a really crude one.
Just got some bar stock, some spacer tubing(steel), the necessary bolts, and a pulley from NAPA.
I probably spent under $20 for it all.
hard to see but.....
works fine, but will not be entering into any car shows.
One of the issues that came up when I was designing mine, was the reported problem of broken off alternator case mounting tabs (upper tab where the OEM bracket supports the tab on both sides). This was one of the reasons I designed it with 2 plates. Other designs that I have seen are a single plate, but with a fork coming off of the plate to go around and support the alternator tab on both sides.
If the alternator mounting tab breaks off, the housing is trash, and a vendor will not accept it as a "core".
The other issue was to keep the rear mounting bracket as it helps support the alternator from twisting (another potential cause of broken tabs).

Let me know if you decide to make more. I would be interested in one.
Here's mine, some flat stock, tubing, and a pulley from NAPA that is for the C5 tensioner. Of course there's welding involved unless you just want to bolt it together. [IMG][/IMG]
To the forum member that sent me an e-mail, requesting the cad files, please resend your e-mail to me. I "lost" your e-mail address in a computer glitch.

this modified single plate design is one piece ridged fixed that i build, it takes about 4-5 hours to completed one unit ,Custom Machined aluminium pulley, with replaceable bearing and is complimented by "satin natural finish" aluminium plate. This unit will replace the existing air pump in your 84-91 Corvette with L-98 engine, lowering it into the engine compartment. Later this year i will anodize red ,blue, clear making these one of kind. Single plate.. Mounted Another view back view
