I have my intake manifold off and am about to apply the gasket sealer ( Right Stuff) and according to the directions it says to just put on the plastic trigger and squeeze from the pressured can. Well I am squeezing and no GOO is coming out. Year on can is 1999. IS this stuff just old or am I a retard? Thanks
the can i have all you do is punch a hole down thru plastic tube with a nail, then you just bend the tube over to the side a little could be you got a old can that has no pressure left
well i twisted alright and nothing happened....oh except for snapping off the tube completely. The guy I purchased through gave me two cans for one and shipped for free. What a Deal... except the cans are from the last century. I tore open one of the cans and there was almost no pressure and the gasket material inside was semi-hard. NICE!!!
Even if the can was never used, I would spend the extra few bucks on a fresh can of the Right Stuff. There is a good chance that over the past 8 years, the pressure has slowly leaked out. Try squeezing the can with both hands. If you can partially crush the sides of the can, then the pressure is gone.....
If the stuff is used it *can* get very hard to get it back out. I always leave a "stringer" hanging out of the nozzle. The trick then is to remove the spoute and slip the stringer out of the nozzle and that give you a nice handle to pull out the hard stuff. You will get a nice plug that has soft material on the end....that is the GOOD stuff.
The right stuff is the best RTV by far.
Go to the local autoparts store and get a new can.
