Numbers were from a "dyno sim" but even if they are not that reliable they should be close enough for government work. As you know I am just looking for the "fun factor" and not trying to build a 10sec strip car. I had a couple of big block cars in the early 80s and found them to be perfect for my style of driving.
Hell yeahs man, thats gonna be awesome. I'd go with a big block myself if it didnt involve hacking up the engine bay to make it fit. That thing is gonna be a monster

Thanks for the encouragement
If you had MY engine compartment you wouldn't care about hacking it up
From what I've read you don't have to hack it up. You just gotta watch the clearance between the crank pully and the steering rack. It may hit there. Let me know what you end up using for headers. That thing's gonna be sick

Yup,
It has to be moved 1" forward. I had a clicking in the rack anyway so that can be replaced at the same time. The headers will be interesting so I will definately post once I have figured that part out.
The HP/TQ numbers seem pretty low; must be a really small cam. Make sure these are Oval-port heads and not "Peanut" truck heads. "Search" might help some with your project; there have been a couple of BBC swaps over the years. Good luck with it...

The late model truck heads turn about 290HP and 370TQ. I think that the older trucks used oval ports and the HP versions used the 219/188 rectangular port heads.
This is an oval port motor that has about the right numbers for a mild build. Yes, the Comp Cams "high energy" cam is mild grind. I have some experience with the BBC although it was back in the early 80s and making the mistake of a cam that was a tad too much for the street is part of that experience
I have done some reading on this swap but if you come accross anything that you think can help don't hesitate to post a link. I am always looking to learn from a mistake that someone else made.
There is at least one other guy here who has a BB in his C4...He posts every now and then when he gets around to working on it. Cant remember his name for the life of me but it does fit.
First thing I did when I got back from my 2nd tour in sunny South-East Asia (Viet Nam) was buy a '68, 396, 4-speed, 3.73 geared, SS Chevelle. Loved that car and wish I still had it. Over camed mine too (L-88). The Rectangular heads were HP, Oval were Pass, and some trucks had even smaller, what's sometimes called called "Peanut" ports. Ovals are usually the best for street cars. Ligenfelter did a 600+ HP 454 years ago, with mildly ported Oval ports (Hot Rod Magazine).
