Ease makes a scan tool for both OBD1 and OBD2 GM versions. You can even get a version that runs on a Palm.
The Personal OBD1 tool is $315 and the OBD2 tool is $350. It includes all necessary cables, software, 1 year of TOLL FREE technical support (and they do answer email and the phone), as well as a 30 day money back guarantee. The Personal version will record hours
of scan data for playback and will play back in graphing (chart) mode using up to 6 charts at the same time. You can also create custom sets of parameters for different vehicles. Ease scan records can be emailed to another Ease user and replayed on their computer so others can help tune or troubleshoot. The OBD1 tool works with ALL GM OBD1 vehicles and the OBD2 version works with ALL GM OBD2 vehicles. They have tools for F*ord and Mopar also.
I rep for Ease and will be glad to email screen clips from use of the tool on my own OBD1 88 vette. If someone orders through me I will get them a 10% rebate of the purchase price. Feel free to email me directly with any questions not answered on the Ease web site.

Somebody mentioned books about TPI  ...
Are there books available to learn about OBD?? for a none ECM expert?
Can you give recommendations?
Thanx,
Klaus
Craig's software has been updated to include '730 mode for the 90-91 L98's. That would mean $99 for the cable, software for free. If you want better software, the cable does ship with the demo version of TTS. You'll have 20 runs on it before the demo expires. At that point, just register if you want to continue using for $90.
John,
I'm not sure about the Carsten cable, I'd ask the people at www.thirdgen.org in the DIY Prom area.
To get Craig's program to work on my 1990 I had to use a Windows 95 start up disk to boot the computer. The program would not connect using the DOS mode of Windows ME. The laptop in use is a 700 Mhz Compaq Armada 110.
To check out the operaton of the interface cable there is a link through the AKM website that can be downloaded. It will run diagnostics and check it out. http://www.akmcables.com http://www.ttspowersystems.com

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

An excellent book I found is "How to Tune and Modify Chevrolet Fuel Injection" by Ben Watson. It is available at most of the major book megastores like Barnes & Noble, and through Amazon.com. It costs $16.95 and covers everything from the basic circuit through Fuel Maps , Open Loop, Closed Loop, on through BLM (Block Learn Multiplier). For me it was one of the best investments I have made for my vette. Watson starts at the very beginning and works up. Great for beginners and Pros alike.
that'll give me good start, I'm going to find out where to get the book. Maybe I'll look into scanning tools thing... :).
Like your homepage Mojo
Save the wave, Klaus
