i have my intake off fixing an oil leak and while i had it off i figure id clean it up. It is super clean underneath, just the top has grime and stuff on it. What about running it thru a dishwasher?
on a side note i bought a painted intake about a week ago off here and got it and the underside it caked with black gunk..i just pulled mine off w 117k on the odo and it look like brank new under there. Does that matter how clean it is if i were to install that painted one, or should i just clean mine up and paint it if i want?
I used Simple Green, water, toothbrush, and compressed air on mine when I had it off. Once I had it as clean as I wanted it I brushed some rubbing alcohol in it and painted it.. Remember when you go to install it make sure the mating surface for the block and heads is as oil ,grease, paint, ect free as it can be. That is most important as RTV doesn't adhere well to oil. Use a 3/16" bead on the front and rear chinawall. About 1/8" on the gaskets.
