Is the dash support bar (big black bar in front of the heater core box) absolutely necessary to have? I ask because I cant get mine bolted back in. The cover is as far back as it will go and theres still not enough room to bolt it in. The only way I see it working is to cut the heater core box which sounds like a bad idea to me.

Your refering to the brace in the engine bay that goes from the chassis to the hood pin mount?
If so I would think so as that braces the door pillars especially when the roof is off.

Yes that one! Sorry I didnt include a picture. I've tried pushing against the plastic heater box to get more room but its still not enough to move the bar into position. I've tried doing it with the heater box just sitting in there loose and no dice. Is there a trick to this?
