Default Ive put up with it long enough

My power door locks dont work, the previous owner installed a keyless entry on my 92 and after the install the power door locks stoped working, I do not know if it was professionally done or not.

The weird thing is when the door lock switch is pushed you can hear the locks click but no where near enough power to actually lock or unlock the doors. its like something is drawing power from them.

Im just lookng for a place to start traceing the problem down, any help would be appricated.

not that this has particular relevance, but on my previous car (2002 civic), i had the exact same problem. The window motor was bad. I would check all the connections to the motor itself, maybe he didnt connect one properly when messing around with the system?

Same thing on my vette (87)- When I bought the car a year ago they worked fine- since then they've slowed down so much that only the pass. side moves completely- I've watched the driver side and it moves but not far enough to move in completely- I haven't messed with it too much cause of the cold, but I have a feeling I'll have to pull of the panel and make sure everything is clean and greased- my 88 camaro did the same thing and it was just really dirty around the plastic lock peice that slides in and out

I have keyless in my 92 that I installed.

For the keyless to work, you had to install 2 relays that come with the kit. They may be the problem. The only thing you can really do to fix this is get the wiring diagram from the keyless manufacturer ( you may be able to get it on line. Then, you'll have to find out where the other guy installed everything and check the wiring. You'll have to pull the underdash pannels on both sides to start.

I hate fixing other people's screwups.

The starting place is inside the door. If you pull the panel off you will see a solinoid that drives a shaft that moves up and down in the bottom of the rear of the door. It's in the same place as it would be if our cars had those old styled plungers that would pop up and down to unlock the door. If that solinoid's shaft isn't connected to anything they could flap up and down all day an unlock nothing. The manual unlock lever's rod runs through an anti-rattle clip on the accessory panel and ends at another one where the power solinoid mates with the keylock shaft and the manual rod. If either of those little plastic dodads are broken, they could keep the power solinoid's action from having the right leverage to do anything. Those plastic anti-rattle clips are in the HELP! aisle and are cheap.

Probably the clicking you hear is the relays in the keyless system.

The place to start is finding the keyless system and then getting a manual for it. Or else ripping it out and going back to stock.

Here's a shot of the inside of the door panel from another thread I had. The two metal rods can be seen hanging here. One rod is for the door handle and the other is for the lock. The motor is out of the picture all the way to the left. I have detailed pictures of all the inside parts if needed.
