My first vete was a 86 with cast iron heads.
I gave it a tune up and it was very fast.
I had owned several sports cars before,
some imports, some turbocharged, ect.
There is nothing like a vette...
Enjoy the ride and be safe

I had an 88 IROC that had that same tuned port engine in it. that thing felt like it was ripping the pavement out from under it. realistically, it only ran about a 15.0 or 14.8 if it was lucky, but it sure was a blast to drive.

I've got an 86 and I expected it to be much faster. Lots of low end torque but if I'm cruising at 65 and want to tromp it, it's got nothing. Idles around 600 rpm and sometimes it idles a little rough. Would a new distributor help those issues?
I too am totally pleased with the acceleration performance that the '86 I recently purchased has. It makes my '80 seem like a slouch. The only thing better would be the sound of a 4 barrel opening up!!!
It was a 9" vigilante with a 3300 stall - now its a TCI 8" race converter with a 5200 stall (the 434 needs a big stall for the way its setup). But when you let it go - HOLD THE HECK ON! Watch video in sig
The vigilante with about 2500-2800 stall would be awesome for your setup.
