Default Fast as Hell!!!

Ok I got my 86 Vette runnin and Holy ****!!!!! Things fast as hell! My budy had an 85 Vette and wasnt anything close to this. I do know when I bought it they put an aftermarket Accell Distributor and plug wires on it, but there is NO WAY this thing is stock-I would guess it runs a high 12 sec 1/4 mile. It definately blows away my WRX- and it is stock 13.5 sec 1/4 mile. Any thoughts on what they might have done to this? They said it was a special edition from the dealer here in Vegas when they got it. It has a rear spoiler and strange batman-like headlight covers. Damn I love tis car!!

I would think that someone already put some $$$ in it before you got it. Great value!!!

But about the dealer tellin ya that its a "special edition" thingie, I would have to say he was doing it just to get you to buy the car more than anything else. Unless it was a Malcolm Konner Commemorative Edition, that would just mean that it was a car dedicated to a dealership back in the day. Now that would be special because only 50 of those "special" Vettes made that year, with numbering and a two tone paint scheme.

One guy once told me that a 93 Polo Green Vette was a 40th anniversary and I told him, "You're full of it."

Just remember that the TPI's give a feeling of being super fast.
They have a ton of low end torque.

In stock trim, your 86 is 230 or 240 hp; like mentioned above, get it on the dyno and let us know what you are the wheels; that will tell us if it's modded; glad you like the performance!

The L98's torque curve is a lot of fun and it does make the car feel "bigger" than it really is. I have an 86' and a 99'. The 86' is an auto and the 99' is a 6 speed. I have done some minor mods to the 86' (Headers and intake swap - still TPI style), and it made 230HP, and 327Ft Lbs at the wheels. The 99' is stock (301HP, 315 Ft Lbs on the same dyno). Stop light to Stop light, the 86' feels much stronger than the 99' off the line, but if you stomp it from 60mph, you can easily tell the 99' is the stronger car.

Even though I know the 99' is faster, I still love the feeling and experience the 86' offers.

enjoy your car!
