I have black zip ties on my hood as well. Works great.
Question:
Is there a similar work around for the rear hatch?
phrogs posted this as a solution to the back hatch opening problem a couple months ago. I've not needed to try it yet (and hope I never need to) but here it is...
"rear hatch, passenger side of the latch in the back reach under the rear plastic center piece, Above the carpet but under the plastic reach your fingers towards the latch you'll find a small cable pull that out towards you, Once you free it from its hiding place yank on that and the rear hatch with pop open."
Good luck
Make sure you buy quality ties and check them from time to time. I had an assortment I bought from Harbor Freight hanging on the wall in the garage for about a year. A lot of them were so brittle you could easily break them. Later! Frank
After using the "tool" which I made ($20.00 for a piece of rod I don;t think so), I like the cable. What size cable did you use? Something that could be picked up at the "Depot" or Slows.
what did you make the rod from? this is on a 96 and the inner fender is riveted to the hood
