Shock absorber socket
Snap On sells a shock absorber socket that says for GM X & J body cars...Anybody know if it would work on a C4's shocks?

Are you talking about the socket for the top of the shaft on the front shocks?

Everybody sells that socket. I would just stop by a good auto parts store with the car and buy any brand that fits. Very little stress is placed on that socket. No need to pay Snap On prices.

I don't see why you would need that socket, there is no access to the top of the shock to get the socket on? At least not on my 86.

There is access once the shock is removed.

I assume someone knows if they have access.....models differ.

If it's like my bilsteins on my 88, a socket won't help because you have to place a "metric" allen key into the stem and use an open end wrench to tighten the shock down. If you use a socket, it'll just spin and spin.
