I have a 94 with a vortech supercharger system on it. I want to install a boost gauge. I am having a hard time understanding what I am finding in my search for a place to attach the gauge. I have taken measurements with my handheld gauge. I do not get any boost from any of the ports in the manifold. I am reading this while holding the engine steady at about 3500 rpms in the driveway. It is my understanding that with a supercharger I should get a boost reading even when the engine is not under load. I tried every port and even holding at that rpm, it has plenty of vacuum.
Where I do get a boost reading is from a port on the throttle body. This is the port that is supposed to provide air to the valve cover. With the vortech kit, this port is no longer used and was plugged. When I check there, I get 6 pounds of boost at that rpm. Could someone please tell me what I am missing here. These boost/vacuum readings don't make any sense to me.
Thank you for the response CRV3TT3. I just went and confirmed that I do have boost under load with my little hand held gauge. Now I just have to figure out what is wrong with my expensive boost gauge. At least I now know why I was getting my previous readings.
