It's on the driver's side, top front corner, near the vent tube. Detailed pic on page 7B1-11 figure 12 item 179 FSM.

^ yup. It's actually fairly easy to locate, but I don't see how you could ever remove that sucker..it's hard enough to get the electrical connector off. GMPartsDirect.com carries, them. Around $60 I think. MidAmerica also carries them, but for much more money. I think they're both listed as "Back Up Lamp Switch"

I thought mine was bad, but after removing and reconnecting the electrical connector, they worked just fine. $60 in the bank, baby

Default thanx gentlemen!!!

expected it would be there rather then console but 94's seem kind of different electrically in the C4 catagories. so better to know for sure.
while i have it "up" i want to disconnect and test as you suggested.
hopefully i'll get lucky with it as you did.
thanx again

Hopefully you won't have to get a new one. With mine, after I removed and reconnected it, I have to put it in Reverse pretty forcefully...or else the backup lights don't come on. So you might try that before you go spending money and tearing stuff apart; give it some muscle into reverse, and see if they light up. Maybe my switch is just going bad or something, but it works for now!
