Default simple question about vaccume

87 L98, If I have no vacume hoses on this car, will it turn over and then stall out unless I am pumping the gas? or is the turn over and stall out a sign that I have a more severe problem? Like maybe a leak in the intake manifold is one theory. If I am at 30% throtle is only way it will stay on and that makes it hard to drive, if you know what I mean.

Do you not have your PCV system and brake booster vacume not hooked up?

I think you have to have the PCV system hooked up, but not sure, never tried it without it.

I think your fuel regulator has to have vacume too.

Did you plug them off, or leave them open?

I can't imagine not having any vacume hoses on your car.

First thing I would do it put the vacume hoses on it, it won't cost much, then you can decide if it has other problems.

I think it must be in pretty good shape to run at all without vacume hoses, but I could be wrong.

Someone will chime in who can tell you for sure.

Well I bought car in pieces and have about 2 vaccume lines so I would have to go to hardware store to get new lines. Brake booster is hooked up but nothing else. I dont want to run the car w/ out lines just dont want to trace everything out then find out that some other bigger problem is there. But your answer is assuring, I will get right on trying to replace all the lines

Is this a stock engine?? If so you have a "Bunch" of vacuum lines...Get a FSM or maybe Agent86 can repost a diagram or a Search would work on vacuum lines..Untill you get that under control it will run bad if at all..After that go on to the next challenge and the next..and the next,,and the next......................

There should be a vacuum diagram on the top of the radiator shroud. I would not run the car without the vac lines connected. It will not run right without them.

A large vacuum leak will give large grief, such as a missing hose from intake base to PCV fitting(driver side valve cover). No vacuum hose from plenum to fuel reg won't kill it, but won't help either. Plug your ports till you figure out what hoses you need. The TB will have 2 or 3 active ports, bottom drivers side, and 1 or 2 on pass side. Plenum has 3, rear for brake booster and 2 on lower pass side.

Forget the hardware store, go to NAPPA, they have everything you'll need. Agent86 hit it just about right...but even a small vac. leak will give you nightmares.
