Default Optispark problems

Getting a trouble code for my optispark and need to replace it ('93/29k miles). Just wondering what people have been using - stock oem, accel, msd? Car is pretty much stock right now, but I plan on doing afr heads, cam, etc to it sometime soon.

Thanks-

I have a 95, with the vented opti, and I replaced it at 83,000 miles even though it was still going strong, with a ac delco oem unit(ebay, $200 with shipping). That was 7000 miles ago and no problems. The only reason I put in a new one was the water pump went away and dripped on it for three weeks, until I got the parts to fix it. It was still working, but I decided on preventive maintanince.
I would like to have a msd, but $200 as opposed to $515 got me.
Most delco's seem to work well if installed right.

Yes,the oem will work great on your '95.But the '92/'93 is not vented, which makes a big difference. The MSD has a vent kit that works,so I think its worth the money.

Any number of mistakes could cause the waterpump to not seal well to the engine when it gets reinstalled; be sure this is done properly or you'll be replacing that Opti all over again.

The main reason I went with MSD is that it was a vented opti. Worth the extra dollars IMHO.
