Default Cooling fans

Any idea why both fans are running when the ignition is on? A/C off.

I am not sure what year you have, but, on my 87 the front fan runs off of the temp switch on the left side of the block. You might want to check it for a short.

Make sure someone has not left a shorting device in the ALDL connector (connecting A and B terminals). Both fans should come on if this is the problem.

It is a '92 LT1. I checked on the plug and I don't see any anything tying the 2 terminals together.

The fan turn on signals come from the A/C and the ECT sensor in the water pump. But that should only turn on the left side fan as long as temperature is under 239* which I’m assuming it is. Even a bad ECT sensor would not start the right side fan with out the digital temp gauge indicating a very high temperature. You have not indicated the car is running poor and based on all these assumptions, I taking an educated guess that the ECM is causing the fan running problems.

The car is running fine. No over heating. With summer around the corner, I may just forget it. I does get hot down here in Naples. I just had a thought(first one all week), would the fact that I removed the AIR system have anything to do with it?

Further detailed explanation is needed to fully understand what you mean. What mechanical or electrical parts have been removed? (Air pump?)

I have removed the AIR pump and assorted lines and tubes, plugged the holes for the fittings in the exhaust manifolds(had the plugs machined and they look and fit very well), the EGR has been removed and plate was machined to cover the hole in rear of the intake manifold. Once everything has been completed, I am going to have the ECM reprogramed. I am not even sure when the fans started running all time. Since I run the A/C almost 100% of the time, I just didn't notice it.
