I have a 95 vette. Last oil change I was told I had a oil leak around the opti spark, $2000.00 to fix, vette mechanic at dealer said not to worry because these cars were known to leak and it would happen again.Should I take his advice? car has only 48,000 mi.

Looks like they want to rip you a new one. Where exactly is it leaking from? The intake manifold is a very common location as oil will leak down the front of the block.

When I replaced my opti on the 92 I had to replace the waterpump seal because it was leaking oil. IIRC the seal was < $15 and had an old dry erase marker to make the installation tool.
The instructions for making the install tool are here somewhere - use search.
Dude its about 4 hours work and $20-50 for all the gaskets but you would at least want to check the opti cap and rotor and install new plug wires while your in there.
wow i feel alot better the shop here in fenton did my timeing cover with seals-water pump-valve covers-oil pan-intake manifold-and out the door was 1100+change also just the timeing cover was 7.5 hrs in the book
It's amazing what they shops try when they see the crossed flags. I'd bet if you took a 97 Camaro in there with the same problem they would probably charge $200. Whatever.
