Have you popped off the plastic door lock-the one with the red bit on it that slides back and forth? Theres also two screws in the bottom of the door pull, the bit below the handle.
This varies by year. But on the the two that I've had apart there are three screws that hold this insert on. One you can see easily(2). One is behind the lamp (1)(the cover pops off) One is under the lock lever(3).
thanks....now i feel like a real idiot, i went out to try find these screws and the doors were locked. I must have locked them when i was messing w/ it earlier. I dont have a spare set of keys, and I took the electric lock switch out. I'm gonna deal w/ it tomorrow...haha.
On my Dad's 93 we discovered the passenger door is different due to the arrangement of the switches... on the passenger door we found that under the window switch (which pops out) there is a hex bolt behind there... careful not to drop the damn thing in the door. I managed not to drop the thing, but did eventually drop a socket in there. If that thing rattles around I am going to be ^&*@!

Once this insert is removed do you have to fight getting the door panel off over the handle or is there enough room with the insert removed the panel comes off easy.Ive got to remove both door panels to get access to the outside moulding studs inside the door.
To add to Staugur's , if you need to pop the lock-slider out (if this applies), use a small pointed angle Awl to slide behind it on the long end. It should "pop" away from the bar it is on. Then, it still takes careful manuvering of the panel not to ding it up. You might want to take a look a "Haynes" or simlar repair manual for your year Vette at your local autoparts store (or buy for about $12.00). They generall have good photos on this type of thing. Good luck!!!
