Replacement/updated steering wheel?
Just curious. The steering wheel in my '84 is starting to wrinkle slightly in the ten and two o'clock positions. Given the homely nature of these early C4 wheels, has anybody ever replaced one of these with something from another GM model?
thanks,
Mike
I went with the 86+ wheel on my 85 recently; same overall apearance but the wheel diameter is larger; which makes it "look" a little more sporty and it sure feels a lot better in your hands. Nice upgrade from the 84-85 OEM style IMO.

It was more money than I wanted to part with, thinking I should have gone aftermarket....but now that
it's on, I'm happy with how it looks and feels.....good stuff!
aftmkt wheel...ripped apart a mid-80's caddy wheel for its tilt-tely hub and added on as req'd...real imitation leather and carbon-fibre...two red buttons, one is horn and the other is nitrous (cannot remember which is which so i just press both)
I've had a Wheelskins cover on mine for about 5 years and it still looks new. They're leather, and are avaliable from Ecklers for about $40. Look like factory if done right, and thickin the wheel a little. Follow instructions and be sure to pull the thread tight.

The wheelskins covers are nice. I put it on my 89 and it looks great, I also like that it makes the wheel thicker, feels good in hand. If your original wheel isn't messed up to bad you can use black paste shoe polish on it, let it dry then buff it off, can do a good job if the wheel isn't to far gone. WW
