Default Tow hooks or points on a vert?

A question for the racers, are there tow hooks available or are there specific tow points on an 88 convertible? I'm seriously thinking of doing a timed Targa event and there is stipulation for tow hooks. I know I have read something previously but that was probably 2, 3 or more years ago!

Any help or advice would be appreciated!

Just had my convertible 86 towed last week.

On mine there are two eye holes specifically for towing. I could only see them when I turn the back side of the front wheel out.

Hope this helps

Those "eyes" on the frame rail behind the lower control arms are not meant to tow the car. They are there for use as tie-down points when the car is strapped to a trailer for shipping.

Look under the car at the molded "curb strips" on either side of the radiator air intake opening. The steel bracket there would be strong enough to add a fabricated tow hook or tow eye by bolting it to one or the other.

The hook or eye probably needs to be in plain sight and easy to access to attach a strap if a tow vehincle has to pull it off the track. Some places may want it painted a bright color like red, yellow or orange.

I would assume that the rules that you are referring to would require the Tow Hook or eyes be easy to access so that the track crew would be able to remove your car from the track with as little effort and time in order for safety. If the car was stuck in a a graval pit.. I don't believe those factory tow or tie down location would be able to be access by the crew.. I think the hooks or eye would need to be somewhere near the front or grill.. ?

I know that in the past for my Drag cars that I used to tow to the strip.. I had fab'd up some steel flat bars that attached to the frame and stuck through the grill opening where I bolted my tow bar to.. is that is something like you are getting at or needed ?

Yes, but I do not want this to be a permanent or destructive addition! I will install something at the track and remove before departure.
