When i turn on the ignition the low coolant dont light up.. all the others light up and then goes out.. I first suspected a bad lamp in th housing.. but the lamp was ok when testing it at another location.
But when i jump the wires going in to the sensor the light on the dash lights up!
Questions:
1. isnt the Low coolant light suppose to light up at first when i turn on the ignition
2. is there some way to test the sensor located in the tank? Ohm?
no test is normal. all the sensor is, is a blade of metal that is immersed in the coolant. when there's no coolant, the transistor that keeps the light off switches, and the light goes on.
ground the green wire, the light stays off. pull the wire off, the light stays on.
The ground to keep the light off is the coolant touching the engine water jacket, and the Engine block being grounded at the back of the cylinder head.
