Has anyone ever removed the ASR system from an LT1/auto. I would like to remove it on my autocross car. The biggest problem seems to be the TV cable. Any thoughts?
It can be done in less than a second. Push the OFF button.
PS--4L60Es do not have a TV cable.
My reason is more for asthetics. Then I can use the button for something else like arm the meth injection. Everything topside in my engine compartment is chrome or polished. Would be nice to see the headers without the asr in the way.
I can give you the throttle cable no. that will allow you to go from the peddle to the TB. (I have it laying inside my 6sp. car.) And if you contact Baldturbofreak, he can tell you how to install a resistor in the wiring so you can remove the ASR module.
But as far as how to re-connect the TV cable, I have no idea. And yes, 92-93 have a tv cable.
I fully understand about pushing the button. I just want the system out of the car. And yes, according the FSM there is a TV cable on the '92. It appears that is going to be the biggest problem. But someone out there must have done it.

I would be interested in the number of that cable when you get a chance. Wasn't it off a F body car with no asr? I can care less about keeping my car factory. I will contact BTF for that resistor too. Thanks.
I removed the ASR from my 96 Auto. I took everything off and got an LT1 f-body cable (I think I got a 95). Mine was a bit long, but I got it to work. No tech on TV cable for 92-93. You could just remove the light from the DIC. Once you unbolt it, the bulbs pop right out from the DIC. No more light!
I'm seen modules for other cars (Mustangs) to make the default "traction control off" each time the car is started. I have yet to autocross my Vette but I can only imagine how annoying it will be to have to remember to turn off the ASR each run.

I don't have the P/N I used but I'm 100% sure the one I used was off a 95 Z28.
I'm probably going to check on running the one that Lokar has though, I think they've got a nice braided one that would look much more trick.
When I put the auto in my 96 I made my stock bracket accept a kickdown cable so it goes from the TB to the transmission. The TV cable was off a LT1 Z28 from the dealer for around $25. Then you should be able to use the throttle cable listed above.
If I stop using the meth, my motor will have to go to rehab. Crack and piston, don't go together well. I am gonna leave well enough alone and leave it in.
