I have a '95 Corvette LT1 that I bought used in 2004 (with 98K miles). It has two pre-Cat O2 sensors (one each on LH & RH side) and one post-Cat O2 sensor (RH side only). Since 2004 I have had to only replace the LH side pre-Cat O2 sensor 3 times. When removing them, the LH side one is always blackened, while the RH side has a nice light brownish color. The car has about 120K miles on it now.
Any ideas why the LH side pre-Cat O2 sensor fails while the other O2 sensors do not?
Sounds like the left side is running rich. Maybe an injector or fouled plugs or oil blowby. Any smoke out of the left side exhaust? That's all I got, I'm sure someone else will chime in soon. Robert
Sounds like you have a mechanical problem to look into. Is the service engine soon light on? You may want to pull the codes and see if any are stored that might help lead you in the right direction. Ground pin 4 and 12 on the ALDL to pull codes.

Also have the cat checked to see if it is plugged up as this would cause the O2 to burn up.
Sounds like it's running rich as was stated earlier. Couldn't he pull the plugs on the left side and see how they look. There was some chart I remember looking at that you could basically look at and see how the car was running. I will see if I can find it.
