I have an extra hood that I will cut up the middle section of and put on top of the one on the car, so it´s going to be more stock like than a cowl and maby go from 3"down to 2" thick 14" aircleaner.

so on hood cleanace i have read that we have 9in of clearance...is that for all c4's or do the 84 crossfire have more then that?..i think i went alittle to hi on my intake i got the Edelbrock performer EPS w/ a holley 670 avengver...i know i should use the 2in fillter and a drop base would that fit?
I've seen a Edelbrock Victor Jr on an 85 without cutting. Your manifold can be made to fit. YOu can get a 1 1/2" drop base and a 2" filter element which means it only sticks up above the carb 1/2". Don't use any carb spacers and you'll be fine.
You can get a pretty tall intake under a stock 84 hood. I'm running a Weiand Stealth (love the manifold BTW) with a BG650 and a 1 1/4" drop base 14" air cleaner and it closes (barely). I've even heard one member got a Victor Jr. with a carb and some air cleaner under a stock 84 hood. Any good vac-advance distributor will work. I'm running an MSD cause they were on sale at the time . On an 84 the fan will still work as normal, along with the dash (excluding the MPG readout).
Hey Leatherman, can you pm me? I have some questions about carbing my '84. Thanks, Tim
Hey guys I was wondering what is the best way to wire up an electrical choke…I don’t have a meter and my repair manual is vague…I read the intrusions and they said it needs a 12v source that is on when the key turns into the on position…also I live in so cal and read that it really doesn’t need a choke...the only time you really need one is if its snows I am not sure ifs its true or not?

On my old cutlass i tapped into the wiper motor for the 12v source
oh iam guessing that one side is always hot/on?..or do i have to trun on the wiper when iam starting the car lol j.k..yea that sounds like a good idea hmmm
You have to invest in a meter Borrow one...That's a Must Have Item..In the harness that your not useing there are about 5-6 keyed wires, tap into one of those
On the Demon carb I've got the E-Choke holds the choke plate closed against a spring when the car requires choke. When the car is warmed up it allows the choke plate to open. I would think that the solenoid in the E-choke is drawing almost no current when the car is not using the choke, as the spring holds it open. The only real current draw should be when the car is cold and the solenoid is fighting the spring tension to close the plate.

I thought about putting one of these on my 84..If I can find one.
Cheap enough, that is..
I had a ram log like that on my nova back in the 60's.Tore up that that 9 inch ford rear end .The torque is unbelieveable.I went to a tunnel ram and just got alot of rpm's but the torque was out the door.

Do you have a reference that shows or explains that mechanism? All the electric chokes I am familiar with are merely an electric heating element to heat the bi-metallic spring as in a conventional, choke stove heated choke. I am not aware of any electric choke that doesn't have a constant current draw.

I live in AZ and have an electric choke... you really need one or on start up you'll have to let the car idle to warm before it will drive well.(on cooler days)
