Well, if you do need to upgrade your half shafts or drive shafts, check out www.dennysdriveshaft.com. A bunch of people in the Drag Racing section had great comments about this company for upgraded shafts. Looking at adding these on my C4 as well. May also want to check out this site: http://www.dragvette.com/index.html for half shaft loops, so just in case you have a failure, it is contained. Also, have you added a safety loop on your drive shaft? I'd do that too. I prefer to be on the safe side. As for your question on if you will break something or now, I wish I could answer for you. I am currently in the process of a similar build, but with a 700R4 Automatic (with a Dana 44 in the rear). Shop is trying to talk me into NOS on top of the 383, as I want to run 11.5 - 11.6 in the quarter (just high enough that I don't need a 6 point roll bar). Good luck!!
Thanks for the reply Quik. I have looked at the Denny's nitrous ready half shafts for like $275 a piece. I have also heard that the spindles are the weakest link.
Any thoughts of upgrading spindles? Are there performance spindles?
Haven't seen performance spindles in my searches online. I'd check with Denny's and see if they offer anything, or know of anything. Same with www.dragvette.com. Most of their stuff is C3, but maybe they have an idea on the C4 spindles too.
