What is the sensor on my 89 that is located in the foil wrapped tube on the rear of the engine above the valve cover on the passenger side? Looks like it would be removed with about a 5/8 socket. I just no ticed that the wire has been broken off the top. I am still trying to solve a miss / stumble when warm.
The foil wrapped tube is the EGR feed tube. The "sensor" is the EGR temp sensor. Shouldn't have anything to do with that miss you've been chasing. But I would fix anyway.
I removed mine and taped off the wire 7 years ago when I put a mini-rma on mine. Never has set a check engine light. I removed my son's on his '87 when we put the headers on, cut the wire and taped off the end. Hasn't set a check engine light on his either. I've heard it'll set the light but it hasn't on these two cars.
