Can anyone help me with this: I have a 92 and ever since I got it in august, I have dealt with a problem that sometimes happens when I break to a stop in that the engine RPM increases and the engine fights the break. I end up crushing the break pedal or flipping the trans into neutral. A friend advised it may be a vaccum problem but we checked and could find no leaks. The problem is dangerous, I almost ran over some kids after I first bought the car.
i have a 67 camaro as well as a 89 vette. When i first got my camaro it would do that. What had happened was that one of the engine mounts had broken and when i was stopped it would move the engine forward enough to pull open the throttle body. You should check to see if your engine mounts are in good condition. Im guessing your vette is an automatic, correct?
Cracked brake booster. When you apply the brake it applies pressure to the brake booster which is opening up a crack in the booster (common on these car). Bet if you do a vacuum test on the booster it doesn't hold. When the crack opens up you get a shot of air into the motor.
w/my size 13eee feet sometimes when I brake the edge of my foot is still on the gas. I have to make sure I get my foot all the way over to the middle of the brake pedal.

sounds alot like what happend to mine when I cracked the booster housing while working on it in the winter. Except I have a manual so I didn't have the problem of the car fighing the stop but the engine RPM did increase under breaking.

How much RPM are we talking here? It is suppose to raise some RPM when the brake is applied. Turn off the car, pop the hose and valve off the booster, is there a loud hiss?
