I admit that I am impressed with this statement, as it sounds as though you are coming to age.

Unfortunately, you're talking about one specific engine; yours. Or even a few; the later computer controlled F-bods and 'Vette's you've had. You DON'T know what all CFI has done (or anyone else on this board), but I bet that the '84 'Vette isn't his first car. I've had (two) engines that started losing power by advancing timing, BEFORE they started pinging/detonating. So CFI is technically right, that the statement, "The more spark you can run, the more power you can make" isn't a universally correct statement.

I think that YOU are right, that in the cars you've played with, cooler temps can allow more advance (by virtue of the programming GM put into the PCM), and in those particular engines, they can then make more power too. But the statement you made isn't correct as a blanket statement, and if you stand behind it unequivocally, you'd be wrong.

The man has much knowledge about C4s, and is a major asset to the Forum... Y'all should "relax" a bit. It's called "dry humor"; look for the humor in it. I guess you either you get it, or you don't. Cracks me up.

Some people just have no idea how obvious it is; when someone really doesn't know motors, to someone who does. CFI-EFI does.
