Default Power Antenna disable

Hi All,

Is there an easy way to disable my power antenna to keep it from going up like maybe at an antenna relay? Where is that relay?

I don't use the FM radio and park under aservice lift so I always forget and the antenna hits the lift and bends EVERY TIME :-)

Thanks
Lee

..i think he said he doesn't want the antenna to acivate when he turns on the radio.....pulling the antenna from the radio solves nothing and will only prevent reception of radio signals.....

...i think that there is a tech tip on this or a similar thread.....do a search....itsimply involves a spst switch to interrupt power to the antenna.....

The relay is under the trim beside hatch latch. You can unplug it there quite easily. I opted for a toggle switch near the ALDL connector. There are 2 pink wires leaving the back of the radio, one is for power antenna relay, the other for bose amp relay, which my memory says your not using.

Sorry,I thought he said he doesn't use the radio and just assumed, like most of us, suffered from the annoying habit of the antenna going up and down every time you slap in a cassette.
Where have you been anyway?

Actually it interrupts the signal from the radio that activates the relay.

A simple $5 on/off push button from Radio Shack wired to the antenna feed wire behind radio will do it. Then just mount the button/switch where ever you want.

I added an indicator light for good measure.

I just bought a simple little toggle switch from someplace and spliced it into the pwr antenna lead. RS didn't have a push on/off when I went, only a temp interrupt (would only kill the pwr when the button was held in).

I intercepted the pink wire running to the relay and put a toggle switch in my center consul. Now I can play CDs with the antenna down.

Another option would be to remove it (or leave it there) and use one of these instead: http://www.ecshylites.com/page/page/761353.htm

I utilized two empty holes the original owner had left there from an alarm system. Simply wired inline at the pink antenna wire behind radio.

Default My Antennae Fix

For simply $10 I bought a black generic antennae and cut it down to 8 inches. Everything works great and I think it looks good.
