I installed a set of the 24 lb Accels. They were OK for about a year. I think one is leaking. I need to replace the set. Should I have my old 21.5 Bosch injectors rebuilt? Is that guy Rich still rebuilding them. Maybe I should just buy new Bosch. Eckler's has AC Delcos. What do you guys think? My Vette may be sold as soon as I fix the injector. I made the mistake of being too honest. A guy just test drove my car and he wants to buy it. The car ran flawlessly. I figured it was sold. I told him if you ever have a hard time starting it press the gas to the floor. He said "Why" I said I think it has a leaky injector. I got a down payment with the agreement that I replace the injectors. He seems a little impatient and said he needs the Vette soon because his car died. I'm looking at a newer Vette.
I kinda get the feeking that he will be back everytime he has a problem. He's very picky, like he getting something new. I'll make sure the final sales agreements says as is.
Holding the accelerator pedal down on start up is a sign of a leaky injector, but may not be. Stick a fuel pressure gauge on and see if the fuel pressure drops off quickly after the fuel pump stops. If it does, then you will need to pinch off the fuel lines.
To test the in tank things (check valve or pulsator), prime the fuel system with the gauge attached and pinch off the feed fuel line. Does the pressure still drop? If not then you have a leak in the tank.
To test the injectors, prime the fuel system and pinch off the return line. Does the pressure still drop? If so, you have a leak outside the fuel tank. Pull the FPR vac line and look for gas inside the line. Make sure there is no fuel leaking out of the fuel lines. Pull the spark plugs and see if any are wet or carbon fouled. If you find wet or carbon fouled plugs that will tell you which cylinder is leaking. Test the injector coil resistanc with a ohm meter. Should read very close to each other.
Best test is to actually pull the fuel rail with the injectors attached and prime the fuel rail and see if any drip. There is a lot more to it. '
If you don't want to go through the trouble, ask him if he can replace injectors. It will save him some money. If he can just take off $300-400 off your asking price.

I have an adjustable fuel pressure regulater set at about 40 lbs. The pressure stays steady for about 20 min after it's shut off. It slowly drops. After about 45 min. it drops to 0. It will always starts in the morning without any cranking. It starts fine about 85% of the time with no cranking. It seems that if I shut it off and try to start it 30 or 40 minutes later it will crank. When it cranks I floor it and it starts right up. So i'm guessing that it takes about 30 min. for the injector to leak enough fuel to make it hard to start. The fuel will quickly evaporate. So If the Vette sits for an hour or two it starts right up. So there is a very slight problem. I have been putting it off because I can live with it. Once it's started it runs strong. When I changed the plugs none were wet or had oil on them. The compression was very good. I don't think the fuel pump is the problem. I installed a Walbro 255. The fuel filter is fairly new. Thanks fo the advice. I will test the fuel system. I just hate the thought of removing the Super ram again for such a slight problem. I think I only have to remove the lid and box. I think I can change the injectors without removing the runners. I still would like to either get my old Bosch injectors rebuilt or buy a decent new set. I don't want to do this again. I will not consider Accels even if they have a new and improved injector. I'm also thinking of holding off on this for awhile. I'm not sure if the sale will fall apart. The guy still has to get financing and insurance. The banks are not loaning to anyone with bad credit anymore. This guy is real young and may not have a good credit rating yet. He thinks he has me over a barrel. I really don't have to sell the Vette. He needs a car fast. I don't need any additional stress.
