How old are your tires? I get a thumping and it is caused by the 'cupping' of the tires. Almost 32k on the original tires so I guess it is almost time to replace them. Now I just have to convince my wife to let me replace the wheels also :)

You may want to check you brakes. Other sources for a noise like that are u-joints, and rear end differentials.
