Just curious
I read so may possible VATS threads and a lot of the time, I ask if they have a code 46.
For those that don't know, it's the code set if the incorrect key or starting procedure is used.
I have yet to hear if any of these people had a code 46.
It would surely ease diagnosis of "not cranking, no start, and VATS" threads.
Also, anyone know when they stopped using code 46 ??

Code 46 was used for all 1984-1993 Corvettes. After 93 they went to a precursor system for OBD-II and in 1996 they completed the total conversion to OBD-II.
I had a VATS problem and never got a code 46. It made troubleshooting extra difficult because I incorrectly assumed that it wasn't a VATS resistance problem. It was pointed out to me by JFB that the manual is not correct in this regard and you will often not get a code 46.
