Default Firewall and insulation.

Could use some advise on insulation.

I pulled up the old carpet to find water under the carpet. The insulation between the passenger leg well and the shifter is very wet. This appears to be firewall insulation, since the transmission is under there. I am having trouble finding this type of insulation.

I can leave it and let it dry, replace with another type, or search onward for the same material. is there a good replacement for this that is safe?

Also, There was no insulation under the carpet. I'm not sure if it is needed. I purchased carpeting with mass backing. Does anyone recommend laying down insulation under the new carpet. If so could you recommend a good type?

OptiPrime, I'm not too sure about any "firewall" insulation but as far as carpetting goes, I actually just started replacing all the insulation underneath the carpet.

The stuff I'm using is actually something you can get from Home Depot or Lowe's and it's called Reflectix. You can buy it by the roll and so far it has been great. It's thin enough to be pliable and not get bulky and it's think enough to make a significant difference in sound and cockpit temperature.

Good luck!
