Problems with my '95
Whine noise was the idler pulley. It is shot. So.....if this thing was really dragging, could it have been the cause of the rough idle and no power? Cause if the belt was not turning at full speed, the alternator would not either and that would cause a rough idle and no power running off the battery. But I think I would have smelled the belt burning and also, would not the engine have just over-powered the idler pulley?
Right now the car is running just great as always...pulled the idler off of my '96 and put onto the '95. Checked all the plug wires going into the Opti....and was good and solid.
Any thoughts??????????????
Car came home on a truck...will start but runs really rough when warm...runs fine when cold. Has no power when hot.
There is a whine noise coming from front of engine....something is wrong up there, sounds like a bearing in the Opti Spark.....do these go bad like this?
Replaced the water pump and Opti Spark (GM) just over a year ago, with new wires, plugs, radiator. Has been running just great up until Thursday night.
Refresh my memory....does the water pump need to come off to get the Opti Spark off? I know the balancer has to....but the hub does not, right?
Thanks,
