Its a clean install but why would you ruin a vette like that ,unless its a junker. I know the turbo's can produce a lot of power but so can a turbo v8.
probably because you can buy a complete 2jz-gte with turbos and ecu and harness for about 2500 bucks that runs and drop it in and the motor is good to 800rwhp without going into the shortblock. its easier to do then a turbo kit for a C4 (I have built one I know) and the ecu is already configured for boost, simple add ons and some fuel upgrades and you can twist the boost up into the mid to high 400 whp range very easily and go out and spank vettes.. sad but true. I used to frown on imports but I have gained an appreciation of them in the last few years and now own one which is faster then my vette was with a mere $8k invested including cost of the car. its just one of those things to weigh the options.. in my opinion chevy should make a turbo corvette.. I mean they sure could do it a great job if designing it from the ground up rather then us trying to make one fit after the fact.
Being that I love the 2JZ, with first hand experience. I think that is terrific. It is an amazing motor. And that car will be so easy to work on and make amazingly fast.
btw, I dont think that car could be ruined any more anyways, so might as well have some fun with it.
btw #2 the directional tires are on the wrong way.. woops
nice point Chris! GM should do a turbo vette. im just hoping the new supercharged engine has had more wrk done to it than just dropping the SC on there.im hoping GM hare going to install Forged rods and pistons ontop of the already strong cranks they are using.
it makes you laugh when you hear ford guys running over 1200bhp (with turbos and race gas) out of stock bottom end engines!
agreed! I mean why could the guys in the tech room at GM not just say look.. so the few guys we are truly building this platform for really would appreciate some heavy duty forged pistons and rods, its going to up production cost a grand or so.. WHO CARES!!!!! DO IT!!! the sale price over sticker alone is going to be more ridiculous then an extra grand for actually getting something!!!!
uggg makes me so upset and that much more impressed with manufacturers outside the GM realm. If I didn't love the vette so much I would probably be sporting around in a supra!

Sooooo true mate! the funny thing is that most boosted engines these day actually run forged internals. im just hoping GM dosne't ***** foot out and stick normal pistons in there!
also i recon if the performance division of GM was to come out with a set of DROP IN forged pistons and rods for the LS engines they would sell soooo fast! they could claw back ALOT of money just by selling the stuff the spend all this R+D money on.
i really cant belive someone at hasn't noticed that soo many LS1,2,3,6,7 blocks have been sold aftermarket are being sold only to be built up. why dont GM just do it themselves and make some more money????
sorry for the rant but in the current times i wouldhave thought car companies would be willing to sell anything they could!
Why go to all that trouble to have a Corvette that runs 12's ?
J/K
I do agree that GM should step up to the plate with a very durable factory engine. I don't think they understand just how important that would be as a selling point. Not enough gear heads working in the accounting dept I guess.
Soooo does anyone know of a shop or guys that would do this swap for someone and not charge an arm, nut, leg and eye?
I'd love to do something like this for my 95. I was afraid to even bring it up here. haha
Thanks,
Ken
I'm sure we've all heard this one before, but here goes:
What do a 300 HP, 600 HP, and 1200 HP Supra all have in common?
A 12 second ET.
Careful with that joke, it's an antique.
Seriously though, the cars make stupid power all the time, but never seem to turn any decent times at the drag strip. There's a 1500+ RWHP one near Wilmington, NC that runs mid 10's. My friend Jonecap just finished putting a nitrous kit on his LT4 and it should go into the 10's this Sunday pretty easy, with only 450 RWHP.
Hell, my L98 has gone into the 11's with only 330 RWHP.

yeah, but what would a c4 run making that type of horsepower?
seriously though; I saw a video of one supra hitting the high 8's
I do like the 2 foot long shifter, looks like the hand brake lever from a rally car sticking up in there. Must of had to use a school bus shifter for the swap

Im sorry but i may be to young to have this corvette pride but umm....
Why would you do such a thing... Plus He has no room for larger turbos on there the vacuum only read out -6.5 which means its close to stock and is most likely a very unreliable and slower corvette.
Thanks for turning an american car into a ricer hope you enjoy all the bags of rice it takes to start her up every morning.

Easy, easy. I'll admit I'd rather see a V8 in there but then my brain got to thinking about the links that convertible with its 6 cylinder could tie in with the very first Corvettes ever with 6 cylinders. He could paint it polo white, put red guts in the interior and fabricate up a one off "Blue Flame Six" valve cover and try to make the modern day engine bay closely resemble the original C1's as much as possible.
At least that's what I would try if I had that Corvette.
All bias and Corvette pride aside, A+ for turning the wrenches and doing the research to make it all work. Guys around the forum have trouble making LSX engines fit in C4 bays and these are engines from other Corvettes, can't imagine what challenges the Supra engine had waiting for them.

It's a great swap, one I have thought about doing but decided to keep the V8 for packagine reasons.
I still stand that that motor is tougher then any LT1 any day of the week and twice on tuesday, (in stock form) modding from there is just a few welds and some tuning and fuel mods away. but the cylinder head never has to come off to hit the mid 700rwhp range.
ponder on that and then start researching what it takes to make a 350lt1 hit that power mark.. suddenly the 2500 for a 2jz starts looking real damn inexpensive.
