Clicking pressure regulator????
My fuel pressure regulator is clicking so loud at idle it sounds like a collapsed lifter! Anyone experience this? I am running Ford Motorsport 24#/hr with the stock GM pump. Second one in a year and the noise was there with the other pump as well. When I replaced it the old sock filter was worn so I figured sand or dirt may have attributed to it's demise. So I replaced it with same GM pump. I know, I know, I should have went with a Walbro high capacity. I will this time to eliminate any question I have about the pump's ability. With a good pump I guess the regulator should never close at idle. Someone must have experienced this before? :smash:

Re: Clicking pressure regulator???? (nobodyunknown)
The pressure gage fluctuates 3-5 psi at idle. 36-39psi with vacuum attached.
Since this post I have done a flow test of the whole system.
The fuel pump is rated at 90 lph at 43.5 psi.
I get 180 - 200 lph of fuel after the filter & before the fuel rail (No load restriction). After the injector rail & also at the return fitting on top of the tank, I am getting 90 lph.
My pump appears to be living up to its rating of 90 lph. (maybe!)
I installed the stock 22 lb/hr injectors and the noise decreases substanially, if even there at all. I have surmised that the stock fuel pump needs to be upgraded. It can't keep up with the 24lb/hr injector requirements.
Just an fyi for everyone.
Walbro coming soon!
